Designing a Supply Chain Resilience Model in the Pharmaceutical Industry with an Interpretive Structural Modeling Approach (ISM)

Abstract

Today with the complexity of supply chains despite the high level of uncertainty caused by disturbances, disordered behavior, challenges and threats, its management has become a challenging task. Although a well - built supply chain has high operational efficiency, existing risks are still a concern and should not be ignored because in today’s turbulent and uncertain markets, supply chain vulnerability has become an important issue for many companies. Supply chain resiliency is a subject that is responsive to very high chain risks. The aim of this research is to present a model of interactions of supply chain resiliency factors in drug industry. In this paper, using interpretive structural modeling, the interaction of variables affecting the resiliency of supply chain has been presented. By studying the library and literature the variables affecting the resiliency of supply chain were extracted and the final variables were entered. These variables were classified and classified at different levels according to their power and affiliation and to test and confirm the model, MICMAC analysis and DEMATEL technique have been used. ISM provides a method by which order can be imposed on the complexity of such variables. This insight from the model helps supply chain managers in strategic planning to generate and improve the supply chain.
