Abstract

The development of space technology has heavy costs. Paying attention to the commercialization of this technology and earning money from it as a way to compensate part of the technology acquisition costs can make its development path smooth and stable in the future, In addition, it is an outstanding opportunity to achieve high revenues from this technology. This article focused on determining the strategies and priorities of Iran's space technology development based on the study and analysis of the space technology services market. Based on this, in this research, the market of space technology services has been identified and analyzed to evaluate the possibility of Iran's presence in each one. Then, strategies for developing space technology to commercialize this technology have been proposed based on SWOT analysis. For this purpose, experts' opinions were used via the Delphi method. In addition, development priorities have been determined from a commercial point of view and the target market of this technology has been selected for effective investment. The results reveal that the priorities of Iran's space technology development, in the short term, are supporting startups in downstream of the chain and operating fixed satellite services and public broadcasting. In the medium term, the priority is achieving sustainable access to low earth orbit and shaping joint international cooperation. Finally, in the long term, it will be possible to achieve the ability to build telecommunication and measurement satellites and the ability to launch them into GEO orbit.
