Abstract

The aim of the present study is to investigate the impact of export promotion programs on export capabilities as an indicator of tangible capabilities, as well as on risk management practices as an indicator of intangible capabilities, in export-oriented small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the semi-northern regions of Iran. For this purpose, the conceptual model of the research was designed using the structural equation modeling method, based on data collected from 340 sample companies through a questionnaire. The model was estimated using Amos software. The results showed that export promotion programs have a positive and significant effect on the export capabilities of SMEs (β = 0.89). Furthermore, the findings indicate that these programs also have a positive and significant effect on international risk management practices (β = 0.81). These results emphasize the importance of supportive export policies in strengthening the key capabilities of small and medium enterprises.
