Abstract

Today, the export of non-oil products in oil-rich countries such as Iran is considered one of the powerful export areas, because relying on raw sales and single products in exports is practically wrong in today’s world due to the complexities and changing conditions of the world, and in Iran, this issue has become much more complicated due to Western sanctions. The present study aims to analyze and classify the types of latent risks in the non-oil export process of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the shadow of Western economic sanctions. Given the importance of this issue in the conditions of Iran’s resistance economy, accurate and in-depth identification of these risks is essential for adopting appropriate export strategies. The present study aims to design a model of latent risks in Iran’s non-oil exports considering Western sanctions against the country. This study is practical in terms of purpose and qualitative in nature. In the qualitative section, data were collected and analyzed using content analysis. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with 51 experts and managers active in the field of foreign trade and international banking. The results of the study divided risks into four main categories, including financial and credit risks, logistical risks, commercial and contractual risks, political and regulatory risks, and explained the latent components of each risk in the context of extraterritorial sanctions. The findings show that financial and reputational risks have the greatest impact on reducing Iran's share of global markets. The final results of the study led to the design of a model of latent risks in Iran's non-oil exports with regard to Western sanctions against the country, which can help exporters improve their export situation and make optimal use of the conditions. This research also suggests solutions based on strengthening alternative payment systems and diversifying export insurance methods
