The processed food industry plays a vital role in Iran's economy due to its contributions to food security, reducing dependence on imports, and adding value to agricultural resources. The significance of this industry is amplified under sanctions and economic fluctuations, particularly in terms of exports, as the export of these products enhances foreign exchange revenues and improves the country's trade balance. In the competitive global trade environment, maintaining and expanding the market share of processed foods necessitates identifying and strengthening key factors affecting competitiveness. Accordingly, this study, employing an innovative methodological and thematic approach, aimed to identify and evaluate these factors in two phases. In the first phase, information was gathered through a literature review and expert interviews, followed by the identification of 16 factors affecting market share retention and expansion based on qualitative content analysis. In the next step, the importance of each factor was assessed using a combination of objective and expert-based approaches. For this purpose, FUCOM and MEREC, recognized and modern multi-criteria decision-making methods, were applied to determine the weight and significance of each factor. The results revealed that factors such as exchange rates, export incentives, currency commitments, product quality, and compliance with international standards play the most critical roles in the success of processed food exports.
